Our lives are comprised of many stories. They impact our lives in various ways and with varying intensities. Even though these stories or events are important and significant to us, we often dismiss them — or in some other way fail to see the importance of sharing them with others.

The story I am going to share radically changed my life! And without a doubt it is the most wonderful and amazing story of how Adonai Elohim, the Creator and Sustainer of all creation, can take a dull and unmotivated life and fill it with His purpose and Zoe — His very life, purpose, and direction.

The Bare Facts — Go!

On November 2, 1974, I met Yeshua haMashiach as my Savior and Lord. He has become my Best Friend.

Then on February 11, 1975, Ruach Hakodesh — Yah's Holy Spirit — entered my life when He baptized me and filled me as I came up out of the baptismal waters.

In March of 1976 I began having dreams about the circumstances of my adoption. But that is a story for another time. Those dreams lasted about a year.

The College Dreams (1976–1978)

In June of 1976 I started having another set of dreams that lasted until just before my college graduation in May of 1978. These dreams carried quite a different meaning — and to be honest, they were quite terrifying.

In these dreams I saw myself being chased by soldiers. Some were in sand-colored uniforms and carried automatic weapons. Others were in drab green uniforms and carried full battle gear. In both cases the soldiers were chasing me in various settings — most frequently we (myself and those I was with) were on docks in a harbor, helping people evade the soldiers, hide from them, and escape.

Occasionally the scenarios developed in residential neighborhoods, on farms, or in downtown buildings and tunnels like subways and maintenance tunnels. The last time I had one of these dreams was in May 1978 — the night before my graduation from Elon College.

During the intervening 47 years, I never had another dream on this topic.

Called as Watchman over Israel (March 1988)

Honestly, I spent the great majority of those years running from Yah. There was, however, an event in March of 1988 that is noteworthy and is crucial to the timeline.

One night in early March I was enjoying my Fourth Watch time (3:00 a.m.–6:00 a.m.) with the Lord. I heard that "still, quiet voice" that had become so familiar to me say, "Read Ezekiel 33." As I read it I knew — that I knew — that I was called to be a "Watchman over Israel."

"My response was less than what Yah would have hoped for, I believe, but I suspect nothing less than what He expected… I ran."

I was on the run, constantly dodging His prompts and nudges for 24 years. The part that was missing in my understanding was that I wasn't the one who had to accomplish or fulfill the "words" or visions I was given. Yah was the completer. I was simply the mouthpiece. It took me many years and disappointments to understand that principle.

He was unrelenting in His pursuit to draw me back into the fold. He was constantly wooing and speaking to me — to the point that I heard His voice on three different occasions audibly inviting me to come back.

"I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth." Isaiah 62:6–7

The Great Dismal Swamp — The Revelation

My youngest daughter, Rebekah, was an enthusiast of science. She asked me several times during her senior year in high school to visit the Great Dismal Swamp.

The Great Dismal Swamp spans approximately 750 square miles, located between Virginia and North Carolina. So we planned a weekend trip to fulfill her request. I had no inkling the impact this "sneak attack" was to have on my life.

When we arrived we found a boardwalk that led back into the swamp about a hundred yards. We walked to the back side of the walkway, then stopped to rest and peruse the view.

As I was looking out into the swamp, I had a vision in which I saw a group of people, dressed like I would imagine the Jews leaving Egypt were dressed. Ruach began to talk to me about the Underground Railroad and its importance in the mission of Aliyah. He told me He would teach me lessons that will help me understand Aliyah's process in our time.

As we returned home, I knew — that I knew — what being a Watchman meant, and that my "call" was finally revealed. My call, as defined in Romans 11:29, is to assist and support the Jewish people to make Aliyah. My heart was thrilled as I saw in the Spirit my life coming together — and why from my childhood I have loved Israel and the Jewish people.

"I have long loved Psalm 122 and its lovely description of Jerusalem. And my mission of intercession has been defined by Psalm 122:6 — 'Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.' Yah makes such a precious promise to those who accept the mission." Clark Ashley

The mission: to help the Jewish people return to the land of their inheritance given them by Adonai Elohim — Israel!

Christians for Messiah Ministries — Rock Hill, SC (July 2020)

Upon returning to Burlington, I shared these events with an Aliyah intercessory group of which I am a part. The leader told me about an upcoming conference about Aliyah in Rock Hill, SC. I was able to register for the event just in time.

One of the speakers was Carolyn Hyde of Heart of G-d Ministries, located in the Galilee, Israel. Carolyn is a Messianic Jew who has made Aliyah. She was sharing about some dreams she had — the number 38 was significant in them. I understood the dreams she was sharing about. I knew in my spirit that I did.

Carolyn asked me if I was attending the meeting in Ohio that coming August. I responded that I didn't even know about it. She said it was an "invitation only" event and she would make sure I received an invitation. She exhorted me to attend as I had an "unusual understanding" related to those words from her dreams.

(Names of individuals with dynamic impact are typically not revealed for their safety and security.)

I arrived early for the conference, so I sat in the back praying. I was impressed of Ruach to read the story of the battle for Jericho. As I read, what stood out to me were the mechanics of security and how the Hebrew spies made use of people within Jericho to accomplish their mission.

A realization came to me that this encounter explained the dreams I had forty years earlier while in college. They had been about moving and hiding people and the danger involved. At that time, the Lord told me that these dreams were not for that time but for a time to come.

I was sitting in the back of the gathering tent. As I looked up from reading I saw the Israeli flag at the front of the gathering place. It was windy, and the flag unfurled. But instead of seeing the Star of David, I saw the seven-candlestick Menorah. I asked my friend if he had seen it, but when we looked again it was the Star of David.

"I believe one day the menorah will be on the Israeli national flag."

The conference was amazing — music, speakers, everything. One speaker stood out more than all the others. He taught on the increased need for security and preparedness, havens, and house churches. His teaching ignited my heart! These were things Ruach Hakodesh had been revealing to my spirit.

Dogwood Acres — Chipley, FL (January 2021)

In the early days of October 2020, Carolyn contacted me about another meeting to take place in early January 2021. The meeting had times of teaching, field exercises led by a U.S.A.F. S.E.R.E. (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) instructor, as well as other noted teachers involved in Aliyah work.

At that time I had started teaching about secure communications and securing cell phones, laptops, etc. Carolyn asked if I would share about these things at the conference.

The conference was powerful, strengthening, and focusing. But most of all it helped me see what I bring to the table — things I had never allowed myself to see in or about myself before.

"To this day my excitement and enthusiasm are as great — EVEN GREATER — than that day in the Dismal Swamp!"

Carolyn Hyde of Heart of G-d Ministries in the Galilee has been the connecting point for almost all the events described in this story. She discerned the gifting and helped me understand how I fit into this mission and calling. Even today she has significant impact through her dreams, prophecies, and prophetic music to the ekklesia and the Jewish people.

So Why This Story?

After COVID struck the US, the laborers in the vineyard of Aliyah were paralyzed. It is not surprising that fear had the demoralizing effect that it did. Sadly, much of the "church" reacted the same way.

But if no one blows the shofar — whether physically or figuratively — and sounds the alarm when things are amiss, then we, the Watchmen, are failing in our mission. And Yah is very clear about how He sees this failure.

"Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs, since God's gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable." Romans 11:28–29 (CSB)

There are 64 Old Testament scriptures that declare or prophesy Aliyah. The church is grafted into the tree that is Israel — NOT the other way around. And what a wonderful privilege the Gentiles are given to be grafted in.

Every one of us in these perilous days has been given a mission. There are no benchwarmers in the Kingdom of Yah.

"This next move in Aliyah will be a very narrow window. There will be great joy and gratitude. But there will also be great pain and heartache. There will be losses on both sides — for those making Aliyah and for those facilitating it." — A word received in prayer, shared by Clark Ashley

Listen for the Shofar.

"The next blast from Zion will be heard throughout all Creation! It will announce the return of King Yeshua!"

Amen.
Shalom b'shem Yeshua haMashiach,
Clark

What Is Yeshua haMashiach?

Yeshua (ישוע) is the Hebrew name for Jesus. HaMashiach means "the Messiah" or "the Anointed One" — the promised Redeemer of Israel and Savior of the world. Ruach Hakodesh is the Hebrew for "Holy Spirit" — literally "the Holy Breath/Wind."

Be Bereans — test everything by God's Word (Acts 17:10–15).

Irrevocable. Unstoppable. His.

"For God's gifts and his call are irrevocable." This isn't just Clark's story — it is an invitation to every Gentile believer to ask: what is my role in God's unfolding plan for Israel?
